Provided finite element analysis of flow in microchannels including steady-state and transient simulations. Various channel geometries were considered and flow parameters were varied to fully explore the design space. By taking the project in stages - first, create and working model, and second, carry out parametric design simulations - we were able to keep our efforts focused on meeting the clients goals in a minimum of time.

Bubble Formation 
Provided finite element-based simulations of bubble formation that tracked the gas-liquid interface
and coupled interface growth and movement to the pressure field. These simulations were assessed by the client
by comparison to experiment.
Electrokinetic Flow
Combining electroosmotic and electrophoretic flow for separation of species in a lab-on-a-chip microfluidic apparatus. Experimental data matched simulation very well, and allowed virtual prototyping of several subsequent designs. This saved the company many times the cost of the consulting project.
